Poll: Consistency night

Consistency night
Our 4th weekend consistency/play nights don't seem to be bringing in a lot of people. This is an anonymous poll to see how many think we should keep it and how many don't.

Keep consistency night. I enjoy coming and hanging out.   (77.8%)
No. Consistency night isn't worth my time and I won't come.   (22.2%)

Although I'm not a big fan of consistency racing, I would like to see the additional race night stay. It is a great opportunity to test when trying something new on a truck. As for the low attendance, maybe alot of the normal racers went to Putnam County last Saturday. I see some familiar faces in the gallery @ www.putnamcountyspeedway.com.

Congratulations Sean! Looks like you really got that thing hooked up..............Heard you wore' em out............

That's true. I'm sure there were quite a few at Putnam County. I'm sure the rain scared quite a few people off as well. The track owner is sweating us about the number in the gate and the payroll payed out.
I'm hoping that July 8th is HUGE and there aren't any mishaps. Gosh that would be heaven! LOL

What would you all think of just a test & tune night then? Would you like it better than consistency? We could probably cut the payroll in 1/2. Just sign a waiver, come to the line and run...with clocks of course. Play on the street side still. We wouldn't need to do computer sign up, payouts, 1 lineman. Just 1 person up top to catch times and holler them out up top?

Just a thought. Nothing is decided but you all will be the 1st to know if anything changes.

Race On!

I think a Test n' Tune night would be great for all. Some racers do not have the opportuinity to run there trucks in there back yard due to not having enough room. I think some would agree that it is kinda nice being able to have one weekend to just Test new stuff with out paying an entry fee for a class. (gate fee's still apply)  Another good reason for this weekend is it is the last weekend of the month, therefore it will allow some to get ready for races on the 1st and 2nd weekends of the month. I am for a Test n' Tune weekend.

At the risk of offending the consistency racers, I would prefer to have just a test and tune night. If you look next door at the drag strip, Carl has two test and tune sessions per week and only one race per month. He also has a Fun Day Sunday  about every other month. They  have some grudge races on that day as well as test and tune. I beleive it's called the "NO BULL SHOOT OUT" and each local speed shop usually enters a car or two. The winner has bragging rights until the next race.

Let's face it with the payout versus cost associated with mud racing, we are all just racing for bragging rights anyway.

Just thought I would offer my $.02 worth..............

Thanks for the opinions.

WannaB.. You hit it right on the nail when you said we were all just racing for bragging rights anyway. We are trying to change that though. We brought in the extra 20% off the gate and while it doesn't seem like much, it will only get bigger with more people in the gate. Bring your friends! Have you noticed the payouts on the flyer? This month because of a roll over, there will be an added $400 to the open and mod classes. If we can get 5 entries in the class that's a $900 purse. That at least pays for gas and a worn gasket or 2. LOL

I am in the process of putting together about 800 flyers or so for the mail. This is no easy task. I spent all of yesterday folding and putting the little circle stickers on them. Joy!

I am expecting a lot of people (aside from those going to NMRO) on July 8th so our August purses should be awesome. The more we can spread the word and get people in there, the more we can pay back in the classes.    We shouldn't have any competition from other tracks for the 2nd weekend so cross your fingers.

So if we had a test & tune night I'm guessing you all would want to keep it at night and not a daytime thing?

Oh...and  just for the record in case it doesn't change..

You CAN run passes in your truck without signing up for consistency. Just do the dreaded waiver thing and ask 1 of the guys to line you up before or after the classes.

Sean great point. And Rick, from what i have heard the July 8th turnout will be great. I do know that some are heading North but many are not attending NMRO race. I am going to stay in town for the 8th.
