WHAT ARE THE BENIFITS OF RUNNING DIFFERENT GEAR RATIOS FRONT AND REAR IN MUD DRAG RACING. I AM ASSUMING THAT THE DIFFERENT TIRE SIZES FRONT TO REAR GET THE RATIO CLOSER. I AM NEW AT THIS AND TRYING TO UNDERSTAND . I CURRENTLY RUN A 84 BLAZER MY BEST TIME IN THE 1/8 MILE IS 5.6  I HAVE 3.73 GEARS FRONT AND REAR. IS THERE A PREFERRED SETUP? THANKS FOR ANY SERIOUS SUGGESTIONS .  JYD

5.6 in the 1/8 mile with a 4800 lbs truck, wow what in the heck are you running in that thing ? no need to change anything at all....

but far as i know its do to tire size for one and alot of racers like to have more control of the truck and a higher ratio in the front gives them just that. meaning if the front tires are spinning faster then the rear means there able to turn and react alot faster but thats just my opinion. maybe someone else will chime in and reveal alittle secret or two

5.6 are you sure thats not in 200 ft that is about the right time for that witha 3.73 gears

i was given incorrect information. you are right but the track is 250 ft and i am running a 383 202 dbl humps. thanks for the info several other people in my area concur with you spin the front faster you get more control and it allows you to go straighter thanks again JYD
