PURE MADNESS
Reply Quote
Traveler,
Start looking for Pure Madness up your way. Sean called me last night and he's got it together with a motor he picked up locally. I'm not sure exactly where he will be racing but the first time out he finished second in the no nitrous class, third in the nitrous class and third in the open class. It went 3.20's in 200' on cuts up there with his motor. I think he's having second thoughts about the motor that I have here so maybe there's a chance we can put it back just like it was. If I find out more details I'll let you know.
C ya

No sign of it at Essex last week. I will be going to a fair race in Pownal Vt in a week or two (NMRO classes 3&4) maybe it will show there. sounds like the motor he has is pretty stout. Hard to judge track to track, but 3.2's will put him in the hunt for sure (thats around what I run). Most tracks up this way have gone to 160 ft. (because of shut down room) cuts are worth 2 tenths most of the time, So I would say he's running some good numbers, Wish him luck with and hope to see it run someday.

Just to let you know - the Pure Madness jeep is alive and well in Maine. Some of my race buddys went to a race there and raced against it. You will be happy to know they all remarked to me on what a nice ride it was - they all really liked the way it looked and were impressed on how well the chassis worked. Sounds like the new owner takes good care of it.

Hey Terry,

How ya been doin? Thanks for the update. I have talked to Sean a few times and I think he's really having fun with the ole' Jeep. He wants to come back down and have me put the good motor in it but I think he's just gotta justify it first. From what I understand he put it on some ole boy with an S-10 that hadn't been beat in a couple of years. The ole fella had to hit it with a pretty big shot to get past him in the Nitrous class.

Let me know if your ready to add a few ponies to yours. I gotta a pretty good sale on the motor right now. I really want to finish my turbo motor. That and I'm fighting the itch to build another truck. All I keep hearing is we only ran good numbers because the track was better back then or the roll out has changed, I think I'm about ready to build a real race truck and see just what my motor will do! I don't think it takes 700 cubic inches to win. Hell Jiggy did it all year long with 638. The heck with trying to keep it legal for a street class, no one will run ya if your fast anyway.

Keep in touch,

WANNAB

Good to hear from you, was not sure if you still followed this site anymore. I'm sure your old jeep would have done well in class III. Oh well - maybe another time and place.
Heard "Jiggy " sold his ride, No idea where it went to. That was one sweet truck.
There is a lot of talk on the web about forming a new racers asso. trying to setup regonial classes and racing to get more tracks/events/trucks around the country. I think its a good idea and hope it works out for everyone. If it comes together it might make for more and better racing.

Well enought small talk for now, I will be in your neck of the woods soon - looking foward to seeing everyone. Maybe even doing a little racing?

The ole "Jiggy" truck is headed to south Georgia. The fella that bought it was about 30 minutes away from buying my motor. He had a nice little s-10 that he wanted me to work on and put my motor in. Instead he sold it turn key and bought the Jiggy truck turn key. He still wanted to buy the motor but Jason wouldn't sell Jiggy rolling. At least that's what he told me. Oh well. Maybe somebody else will want to go fast.

Look me up when you get down here. I'd love to go watch ya run.

Take care,

WANNAB

Where ever I race it seems those old WV. trucks are there to beat up on me  Just kidding, Have some front end damage to the sledgehammer (stuffed it into the hill at monson, Ma.) that and the converter went on me. If I can get it back together in time I hope to drag it along with me.

Bring it anyway. I'll help you fix it. They will ship converters anywhere.

See you soon,
